Dáil Protest Demands Save Our National Maternity Hospital

Writer: IWW IrelandIWW Ireland

Members of Industrial Workers of the World in Dublin joined with hundreds of trade unions, community and women's organisations from across the country to demand the new National Maternity Hospital (NMH) is fully publicly owned.

This afternoon's protest at the gates of the Dáil heard numerous women call for any new hospital to be free from the influence of the church and in public hands.

A spokesperson for the Dublin IWW said that "We needed to be vocal at this and other events to ensure they get the message loud and clear, that our new National Maternity Hospital must be public hands and secular."
