Foyle Pride 2024: No Pride In Genocide

Updated: Aug 27

The Industrial Workers of the World WW took part in Foyle Pride festival and today's annual parade. Each year, the annual pride parade takes the route of the original Civil Rights march in Derry.

A spokesperson for the IWW Union Derry spoke as the parade weaved through the city centre streets stating: "It's an amazing turn out. Foyle Pride Parade Day is probably the best festival in the country. Thankfully it tries to keep to the original principles of Pride, for that the organisers deserve our full support and solidarity.

"For ourselves as a revolutionary union, we're here to add today our voice in solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community. We're also here to highlight our solidarity with the people of Palestine.

"We are witnessing the deliberate genocide of the Palestinian people by the Zionist terror regime. A regime which is being fully armed and assisted by so called democracies, of which our own country, its government, is complicit through its continued silence, not to mention the use of Shannon Airport.

"That's why the IWW Union Ireland as a union proudly walk behind a banner declaring, NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE. We must continue to be vocal as trade unionists in demanding an end to the genocide of Palestinian worker's. It is not enough to be simply pro Palestinian, we have to be anti Zionist. We demand an end to the occupation and for the workers of Palestine to decide their own destiny."
