IWW Online Talk: Why We Celebrate MAY DAY

May 1st is officially called 'International Worker's Day' since 1889, honouring Chicago workers who went on strike for an eight-hour-day on May 1, 1886.

Since then we celebrate and affirm the continuous achievements of workers and the trade union movement in bettering working conditions and advancing a more just society.

We are acutely aware of the permanent challenges and attempts to roll back workers rights, which is why we need to continue to fight for an economic democracy and the abolition of the wage system!

Join with us, as IWW members look the history of what has become know as International Workers Day, and examine why we celebrate MAY DAY.
