The IWW condemn the recent attack by An Garda SÃochána on protestors against the genozide in Gaza.
The arrest of 14 protestors with the group Mothers against Genocide, peacefully demonstrating outside Dáil Eireann on Tuesday morning, was a shocking display of police brutality.
The use of physical violence in the arrests by An Garda SÃochána is an outrage. The further use of sexual violence and intimidation in form of strip searching protestors and subjecting one (a survivor of the genocide) to a cavity search is deplorable and has no place in a just society. This same police force who have no qualms using sexual intimidation on protestors have also shown themselves to be unable to handle the gender based violence epidemic in this country.
This shows that the Gardai are not interested in preserving peace, instead they are suppressing dissent on behalf of the political establishment and the capitalist classes.
We stand in full solidarity with the protestors and offer support to them in upcoming court dates. We echo their call to the government to pass the Occupied Territories bill and end the Irish complicity. We urge fellow workers to do likewise.
We would also encourage everyone to read the full statements by Mothers against Genocide and to support actions in opposition to the terror brought upon the people of Palestine by the Israeli fascist regime.
